Jakuan Tea House Precedent Study

ARCH 201: Architecture Design Studio - Professors: Yu Yong & Joyce Noe

The Jakuan Tea House located on campus at the University of Hawaii at Manoa exhibits attention to all senses as it follows the guidelines of traditional Japanese Tea Houses. It also displays traditional Japanese structural techniques that can be applied to various buildings. Arguably most importantly, tea houses utilize natural materials which integrate them with the land.
